Neck Pain

Neck pain can be debilitating and extremely uncomfortable. Approximately one-third of the population experiences neck pain at any given time, according to the American Physiotherapy Association (APTA).

Neck pain can often begin at the base of the skull and radiate down to the shoulder, arm, and also mid back. If left untreated the pain can become more severe, and surgical intervention may even be necessary.

What are the common causes of neck pain?

Poor posture — whether from leaning over a computer or hunching over a workbench or poor posture when using the mobile phone is one of the most common causes of strain on the neck muscles. Osteoarthritis also is a common cause of neck pain.

Severe neck pain is also associated with numbness or loss of strength in the arms or hands or pain that shoots into a shoulder or down an arm.

The common symptoms of neck pain include:

  • Stiff Neck

  • Sharp/Stabbing Pain

  • Pain When Moving

  • Radiating Pain or Numbness, Tingling, or Weakness in either of your arms or hands

  • Migraine Headache

  • Pain on Touch

How can physiotherapy help?

Physiotherapy is one of the best methods for treating neck pain.

At FLEXITUDE, our Physiotherapists will conduct an initial physical evaluation to analyze the movement patterns, strength, and ability to do everyday activities.

Based on the diagnosis we will determine your treatment plan. You will work together to understand the goals and expectations of each step in your personalized treatment plan, with the main focus on overcoming your neck pain and recovering as quickly as possible.

Treatments for your neck pain will most likely include manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, and using electrotherapy modalities like IFT, TENS, and Ultrasound therapy. Further, we will design targeted exercises that will improve, strengthen, and build the muscles and tissues in your neck. Our primary focus will be on improving the posture and strength of the neck muscles, as well as avoiding re-injury in the future. Call +91 730 688 5927 to schedule a consultation at any of the FLEXITUDE Physio branches.
